Size Matters? In Month of Photography Opening
Gifford Ewing Photographic Studios

Denver, CO. March 24, 2015 – Gifford Ewing Photographic Studio in Denver’s Capitol Hill District will host an open reception, April 2, 2015, as part of the Month of Photography Denver. The show title, running from April 2 - June 30, 2015, is “Size Matters?: A Photographic Conversation in Silver Gelatin, Fiber, and Carbon Pigment Canvas Prints.”

Black and White Landscape Photographer Gifford Ewing will have prints ranging in size from 16X20 inches on Silver Gelatin Fiber to 5x7 foot Carbon Pigment Canvas Prints. The collection will challenge how viewers experience photography. There will be familiar print sizes next to canvas prints that expand the whole of vertical wall space, providing a new understanding of what it means to be drawn into an image.  Images include iconic Colorado landscapes, Denver’s cityscapes, and various U.S. landscapes.

“I am excited for people to experience these images at such a large magnitude and medium,” says Gifford Ewing. Originally from New England, Denver-based Ewing shoots medium to large format film photography utilizing the zone system made famous by Ansel Adams. Most recently, his works can be found in the newly renovated Union Station and Crawford Hotel.
